PROGRAMME SPECIFIC OUTCOME
DEPARTMENT OF PHILOSOPHY
From the BA Programme of the department of Philosophy we opt the following outcomes:
i) Knowledge Building: It is to provide the students knowledge of Western as well as of Indian Philosophy. The basic objective of the programme is to build its students with the knowledge of all the Philosophical schools more or less. Making the students efficient for practical life with a definite life philosophy and ideology, it makes a strong based for the society.
ii) Critical Thinking: It improves the reasoning and critical thinking among the students. Aim of the programme is to enhance the skill of critical thinking to become reasonable with a logical point of view.
iii) Moral Character Building: Along with providing knowledge the mission and objectives of the B A programme of Philosophy plays a great part in a good moral character building. It deals with almost every discipline of social sciences including Ethics and Religion. It builds a strong spiritual power and a good moral character among the graduates passed out of the programme

The BA programme of the department of Philosophy contains the following courses within its syllabus. The outcomes hope from the entire course structure can be stated as follows:
i) PHIC2,MINPHI2,GECPHI1,PHIC5, GE3(CBCS): Indian Philosophy: The objective of the course contain within the papers of Indian Philosophy is to acquaint the students of philosophy with the basic issues and problems of Indian Philosophy, Indian Logic, Epistemology, Metaphysics and Morality etc. of different systems of Indian Philosophy with some concepts of Vedas and Uponisads. It will help them in procuring higher education from UG to PG level.
ii) PHIC1, MINPHI1, GECPHI1: Western Philosophy: It provides the students basic concepts of the western philosophical schools such as the basic of Metaphysics, Epistemology, Axiology etc. especially the theories of knowledge, theories of truth, categories of knowledge etc. to prepare them for higher courses.
iii) PHIC9, C8 (CBCS): Modern Indian Philosophy: The objective of the papers is to make the students familiar to the contemporary and modern Indian philosophy of Indian It actually makes the students aware of the changes in the philosophical theories and thoughts in course of time. As a result students can be progressive and reformative with new and modern thoughts and ideals.
iv) PHIC10, C5 (CBCS): Modern Western Philosophy: The objective of the papers is to make the students familiar to the contemporary and modern Western philosophy. It actually makes the students aware of the changes in the philosophical theories and thoughts in course of time. As a result students can be progressive and reformative with new and modern thoughts and ideals.
v) PHIC4, MINPHI4,C6 (CBSC): Western Ethics : This course acquaint the students of philosophy with the moral aspects of ethical theories of the Western Ethics. It really helps the students to build a strong moral character with good ethical manners.
vi) PHIC4, C7 (CBSC): Western Ethics:This course acquaint the students of philosophy with the moral aspects of ethical theories of the Western Ethics. It really helps the students to build a strong moral character with good ethical manners.
vii) MINPHI4, Western and Indian Ethics:This course acquaint the students of philosophy with the moral aspects of ethical theories not only of Indian Ethics but also of the Western Ethics. It really helps the students to build a strong moral character with good ethical manners.
viii) C6 (CBCS), Indian Ethics: This course acquaint the students of philosophy with the moral aspects of ethical theories of Indian Ethics. It really helps the students to build a strong moral character with good ethical manner.
ix) PHIC3,GECPHI2, MINPHI3,PHIC14, Western Logic: It is the course of basic elements of Western logic. It provides the students the opportunity to make themselves logical. They can earn the reasoning power and the knowledge of reasoning is very much useful for their practical life along with the prospective of appearing different competitive examinations.
X) PHIC11, Symbolic Logic: It is the course of basic elements of Modern logic known as Symbolic Logic. It provides the students the opportunity to make themselves logical. They can earn the reasoning power and the knowledge of reasoning is very much useful for their practical life along with the prospective of appearing different competitive examinations.
xi)C11 (CBCS): Modern Indian Philosophy: The objective of the papers is to make the students familiar to the contemporary and modern Indian philosophy of Indian It actually makes the students aware of the changes in the philosophical theories and thoughts in course of time. xii)PHIC14, Indian Logic: It is the course of basic elements of Western logic. It provides the students the opportunity to make themselves logical. xiii) PHIC6, Ancient and Medieval Western Philosophy: Without History no knowledge can be perfect. So, this paper helps the students to learn the different trends of Western Philosophy From ancient to medieval Western Philosophy in a definite and systematic order. It is utmost helpful way to acquire perfect knowledge of Western Philosophy.
xiv) PHIC15, C13 (CBSC), Philosophy of Religion: Religion is a force that binds the society with a strong grip. So, this paper acquaint the students of philosophy with the various religious cults through a comparative discussion on them.
xv) PHIC8, C10 (CBSC), Comparative Religion: Religion is a force that binds the society with a strong grip. So, this paper acquaint the students of philosophy with the nature and scope of Philosophy of Religion, Origin of religion, Role of religion in the society, idea of God along with the anti theistic trends in different religious groups. It really helps to form a strong based for the society.
xvi) PHIC10, C5 (CBCS): Modern Western Philosophy: The objective of the papers is to make the students familiar to the contemporary and modern Western philosophy. It actually makes the students aware of the changes in the philosophical theories and thoughts in course of time. As a result students can be progressive and reformative with new and modern thoughts and ideals.
xvii) PHIC7, C9 (CBSC)Social and Political Philosophy: The objective of this paper is to make the students familiar with different philosophical aspects of society and politics. The knowledge of the course will be helpful for the students for their practical social and political life.
xviii) DSE3 (1) (CBSC) Psychology and Philosophy of Mind: this is the course that deals with Human mind and his own behavior. Here the students can learn the Psychological aspects of human life. It helps the students to know themselves. The knowledge of own mind provides the knowledge of other individual, social and collective minds.
xix) C12 (CBSC)Phenomenology and existentialism, Analytical Philosophy, Applied Ethics and Meta-Ethics, Aesthetics, Philosophy of Feminism: These are the new dimension added to the course structure of the Programme. These are the latest development in the Field of Philosophy. They altogether will make the student up-to-date new and up-to-date concepts and theories attached to philosophy.
xx) DSC1 (1)(CBSC)Philosophy of Vedas and Uponisads: One of the latest course appended to the new syllabus of the BA programme of philosophy is the Philosophy of Vedas and Upanisads. It makes the students acquaint with the philosophy of Vedas and Upanisads which is the foundation of Indian Philosophy. It is the reality that the Vedas are the base of all the philosophical schools of Indian Philosophy. So, the paper acquaint the students with the origin and history of Indian Philosophy.
xxi) PHIC12, C14 (CBSC) Analytic Philosophy: This paper aims to acquaint the students with basic ideas of Analytic Philosophy
xxii) PHIC13, DSE2 (1) Meta ethics: This paper attemps to acquaint the students with certain problems of Meta Ethics and to development an understanding on them.
xxiii) MINPHI6,DSE4 (1)Applied Ethics: This paper aims to acquaint the students with basic ideas of Applied Ethics concerning values of life, environmental ethics and professional ethics.
We can sum-up that the BA programme of Philosophy makes a student aware of his own identity. Along with getting opportunity of earning livelihood like any other discipline, Philosophy is the only subject that makes a man's education complete and perfect. It helps the students to become a man in the real sense.
